Needles Highway in Nevada is fully improved and has historically brought
up to 2 million visitors a year to Laughlin. It will be key to future Laughlin
economic development projects. Efforts to improve the entire portion of
the roadway, including through California to I-40, have been steady for
more than a decade.
Needles Highway Improvement
Efforts Never Wavering

Now that $30 million over the past 12 years has completed the entire Nevada portion from Highway 163 to the California State Line, Laughlin leaders await California action.  Project leaders in San Bernardino County say they have been “encouraged” by a recent resolution by the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe supporting the project’s NEPA findings and are beginning the documents necessary to address the dedication of rights-of-way for the roadway through their lands. The first CA (Needles) phase will be ¾ of a mile on both sides of Park Road. A 24-month construction period is expected.  For a complete fact sheet about the project, click here.
