Biography
Clark County Commissioner Chip Maxfield has been a resident of Clark County for over 46 years. He and his wife, Kathey have been married for 28 years, and have five children: Scott, Danny, Lindsey, Kristin and Douglas. Chip earned a BS degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and is a licensed professional engineer in the states of Nevada and Utah, and is a State Water Right Surveyor for Nevada. For 19 years, Chip was co-owner of a Las Vegas civil engineering firm. Chip recently sold his interest in the firm to pursue other opportunities and focus more on his obligations as a County Commissioner.
Commissioner Maxfield was sworn into office as County Commissioner on January 3, 2005, to Commission District "C" to serve a four-year term. That term expires the first Monday in January 2009. This is Commissioner Maxfield’s second term as a County Commissioner.
In January 2007, Commissioner Maxfield was chosen by his fellow commissioners to serve in the following capacities:

· Chairman – Clean Water Coalition
· Chairman – Las Vegas Springs Preserve
· Chairman – Board of Trustees Kyle Canyon Water District
· Chairman – Mount Charleston Fire Protection District
· Chairman – Liquor & Gaming Licensing Board
· President – Board of Directors Las Vegas Valley Water District
· Vice Chairman – Clark County Board of Commissioners
· Vice Chairman – University Medical Center Board of Trustees
· Vice Chairman – Regional Flood Control District
· Vice Chairman – Board of Trustees Big Bend Water District
· Vice Chairman – Regional Transportation Commission
As a Clark County Commissioner, Chip also serves on the following boards:
· Southern Nevada Water Authority
· Clark County School District Oversight Panel
· Criminal Justice Advisory Commission (formerly Regional Jail Commission)
Chip has also served in the following capacities:
· Member – Metropolitan Police Committee of Fiscal Affairs
· Member – Southern Nevada District Board of Health
· Member – Nevada Test Site Development Corporation
· Member – Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission
· Member – Nevada Development Authority
Chip served on the Lone Mountain Citizens Advisory Council prior to running for Clark County Board of Commissioners. He has been an active member of his church and has been actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America for the past 15 years.
