In 2009 Clark County celebrates 100 years of a rich and diverse history. It is one that begins with farming and ranching and includes the building of a railroad and a dam, the establishment of an Air Force base and a nuclear testing ground and, finally, tourism and entertainment.

In many ways, this is a time to celebrate a century of service – service to the tourists who sustain us, service by county government to its citizens, and service to our community and one another.

Clark County is best known for the dazzling Las Vegas Strip, but the county spans an area the size of New Jersey, from the shores of Laughlin and Lake Mead, to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area west of Las Vegas and the ranches of Logandale near the Utah border.

2 million people call Clark County home, and 39 million more make it their playground each year.

Join us as we explore our collective past and the fascinating stories of the people, places and events that make Clark County such a great place to live, work and play. Join us as we celebrate a century of service.
